“Me and You” -Tony! Toni! Toné!
It’s 1991, and I’m home for the summer from the University of Waterloo. At the movie theatre, I watch John Singleton’s debut film Boyz n the Hood, and immediately, I fall in love with this song.
Both the movie and the song are etched in my memory forever. The music captures the energy, the emotion, and the moment of that summer in a way that nothing else has since. Every time I hear Me and You, I’m transported back to that theatre seat, completely caught in the film and the rhythm of the song.
