“California Dreamin’” – The Mamas & The Papas
In Trinidad, I would listen to this song and imagine myself seeing California and the world beyond. It was the first spark that made me want to explore.
Since then, I’ve seen much of that world: Dubai, Iqaluit, Thailand, Norway, Scotland, Alaska, Barbados, Paris, Rome, and, of course, California itself. I’m not entirely sure what drives me to travel, but I love observing how others live and function, the rhythms of life in places so different from my own.
California Dreamin’ reminds me of that first stirrings of curiosity the desire to see, to learn, and to understand the vastness of the world.
