“Don’t Stop Me Now” – Queen

The year is 2018, and Bohemian Rhapsody is playing on the screen. I thought I knew Queen well by then. I d been introduced to their music through Highlander and had worn out their greatest hits over the years. And yet somehow, this song had slipped past me. I remember searching endlessly for Mister Fahrenheit, convinced it must be a deep cut or a forgotten B-side only to learn he didn’t exist at all, except in lyric and legend.

That fall, my oldest daughter started at Sheridan College, and with it came an unexpected gift: time. Nearly every week, I drove her to residence and back home again. Those drives became ours –shared meals, long conversations, and playlists that kept growing. Don’t Stop Me Now was one of those songs. We’d sway in our seats, half-singing, half-laughing, suspended somewhere between departure and return.

She is a treasure to me. And in ways I didn’t anticipate, she became my new guide into music showing me that even songs I thought I’d missed can still arrive exactly when they’re meant to.
