“Que Sera, Sera” – Doris Day

Growing up in Trinidad, my parents taught me through caution –beware of this, avoid that. Their lessons came wrapped in fear and concern.

But this song, spinning on my 50s oldies cassette, offered a different kind of teaching: live in the moment. Que Sera, Sera became a philosophy I try to follow every day. It’s simple in words but far from easy in practice. Still, it’s advice I return to, time and again a gentle reminder that some things are beyond control, and the rest is worth embracing.
